MacBook repair guides for Brisbane

A damaged MacBook can have more than one cause. These short guides help you describe the problem, protect important files and request a more useful repair quote from our Milton workshop.
When a MacBook screen is cracked, black or showing lines
A visible crack can point to display damage, but a dark screen, flickering picture or coloured lines can also involve the backlight, power, display connection or another fault. The model and the symptoms matter before a screen replacement is recommended.
- Take a photo of the screen and note whether the issue followed a drop, pressure or spill.
- If the Mac starts, check whether it works with an external display.
- Find the model number and screen size if possible, then call before travelling.
For a damaged display, see our MacBook screen replacement information and competitor pricing examples.
Signs a MacBook battery needs attention
Short battery life, unexpected shutdowns, a service warning or a MacBook that only works on its charger can all be useful clues. They do not automatically mean the battery is the only issue. The age and model of the MacBook, the charger and any power symptoms help with an assessment.
- Back up accessible files before arranging a repair.
- Bring the charger when the problem relates to charging or power.
- Tell us whether the MacBook becomes unusually warm, shuts down, or shows a battery message.
MacBook not charging or not turning on
First check the power point, cable and charger for visible damage. Avoid forcing a connector or continuing to use equipment that is hot, damaged or smells unusual. A no-power symptom can involve the charger, battery, charging circuit or another internal fault, so diagnosis comes before a repair recommendation.
How to find the right MacBook model for a repair quote
If the MacBook starts, choose Apple menu → About This Mac. Otherwise, look on the underside for a model number beginning with “A”. The year, screen size and whether it is a MacBook Air or Pro all help identify the correct repair options.
When you call, share the model number, the fault, whether there was a drop or spill, and whether your files are backed up. We can then discuss the next step, parts availability and a quote for your particular MacBook.
